Integrating Dissociated Anger Training

Course Description This on-demand podcast CE course examines the complex and often misunderstood emotion of anger through the lens of clinical psychotherapy. Focusing on social conditioning, dissociation, and the somatic effects of suppressed anger, the course offers insights into how unexpressed anger contributes to emotional and physical distress. Clinicians will learn how to employ the Integration exercise as a modality to help clients safely reconnect with and integrate their anger, dislodge shame and foster self-attachment. Learning Objectives Upon completing this course, participants will be able to identify primary emotions that fuel anger and explain their underlying significance in clinical practice; describe common negative psychological and behavioral outcomes associated with suppressed anger; demonstrate strategies for helping clients develop a healthier relationship with anger and shame through therapeutic interventions; and describe how self-attachment promotes trauma resolution. Target Audience This course is designed for mental health professionals who want to better understand the role of anger in mental health. It is intended for psychologists, therapists, social workers, clinical counselors, and addiction counselors. Instructional level: Intermediate 1 CE through NBCC or CAMFT
